About Minerva

Minerva Textile Group was formed in 2011 and had its first exhibition in 2012. The original membership had attended workshops at Craft Arena and has evolved over the past 5 years. Membership is now by invitation.

Exhibitions are held at Gallery 50, Craft Arena in September each year.

Minerva 2011

Our inaugural exhibition was at The Gallery at Craft Arena in 2011. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of everyone's work, but the following should give you a flavour of what was achieved.

Denise, Kay and Yvonne chose to interpret this using a 'space' theme whilst Wendy went for a classical Greek design.

We did an exercise using primary colours. I can remember stitching most of mine whilst cruising down The Nile!

Members were given a proprietary wooden icon and some medieval inspiration. Mine was based on a Persian frieze at the British Museum.
